FEM Project “Unlocking the Potential of Estonian Migrant Women”

About the FEM Project

Project “Unlocking the Potential of Estonian Migrant Women” deals with the issues of Estonian women who have moved to Finland and is therefore in general aimed to strengthen the communities of women who have left their homeland and are living and working in another country. Compared to local residents the migrants are socially and economically more vulnerable and face more challenges which they are often not able or prepared to foresee.

Three groups of women in Turku, Helsinki and Tallinn will be selected. Peer counselling techniques enable to give both knowledge and emotional, practical and social support to participants. Common discussions of issues in peer group sessions will strengthen the sense of community and relations among the women and help them to communicate and share their life with each other also in the future.

Project activities also include data collection and analysis, establishment of walk-in info points in Turku and Helsinki, communication activities.
